Diving in Baa Atoll

Diving in Baa Atoll, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, is a bucket list destination for many divers. Baa Atoll is one of the most unique atolls of the world and one of the best locations in Maldives to see whale sharks and Manta rays.

Baa Atoll is particularly known for the rare biodiversity in its beautiful coral reefs marked by swim-throughs, caves and overhangs and an abundant marine life. Starting off with a dive at the house reef of Kamadhoo Island is already worth it to put on your diving gear. An enormous variety of fishes and healthy corals is what you can expect throughout each dive.
The world famous Hanifaru Bay, a UNESCO protected marine area, is located right around the corner of Kamadhoo. During the feeding season (May/June to October/November) it is the best spot to encounter a huge number of Mantas and if you are lucky enough even whale sharks. Nowadays, only snorkeling is allowed in the bay but the chances to meet these gentle giants during one of your dives are still very high.
