Ukrainian travel agencies and agents have collectively requested from the Maldivian tourism industry to provide support and assistance to Ukrainian travelers currently stranded in the island nation.
The plea from Ukraine travel agencies has come at a time when the country is facing financial transactional issues and a general lockdown of aviation.
Ukraine’s travel trades have requested the Maldivian government and the tourism industry to extend hospitality to its travelers for “a few days” until the situation dissipates.
Meanwhile, the Chief Executive of Resort Life, a Maldivian travel agency with operations in Ukraine, Mr. Mohamed Shaaz Ali told Mihaaru news that the country was among key contributors to the Maldivian tourism industry amid the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak in 2020.
In his statement, it was time for the Maldives to “return the favor.”
According to Mr. Ali, some Maldivian tourist properties have started to accommodate stranded Ukrainian travelers free of charge, while he added that the same hospitability should be extended to the Russian travelers who stranded amid the chaotic geopolitical tensions.
